A report from our Field Workers.

“We recently had a wonderful salvation testimon! Her name is S*. We had known her on and off for a year or so since her boyfriend K* was baptised about a year ago. He had wandered away from God since then but in late January he sent me an SMS saying “The sinners need the way of God. Brother C*, I need this, can you help me in this if is possible, I like meet you please”.

He met me in a cafe and he agreed to come to our Sunday get-togethers. He brought S* to the meeting and she was touched and returned the next week. She was unemployed and was searching for work, perhaps more earnestly than for God. For some time she attended Sunday gatherings and we’d pray that she would find work. She would return the following week, disappointed that she was still without a job. We reminded her that if we seek God’s kingdom first, everthing else that we need will come.

After five weeeks, the group prayed for her to be healed and she was instantly healed of arthritis in her leg. Having seen God’s power, she was ready to give her life to the Lord and received a touch of the Holy Spirit. That next week after she came to God she found a job at a dairy foods factory. As she honoured God, He honoured her.
She and K* come every week and we trust they will become future leaders. After she received her new life, her relatives where she was staying asked her to leave, but God provided a flatette with a Muslim family closer to her work.

Recently, C* attended her brother‘s wedding. He had a chat with K’s* dad about the gospel. He is trying to combine the Koran with the Bible as the same but it‘s not. Still he believes Jesus died on the cross so it‘s progress.

S* always has a joy now and a quirky sense of humour in the meetings. She has found a new life and K* had a good chance to share with a couple of his work mates two weeks ago. K* recently brought his Algerian work mate to our get-together after watching the Magdalena film. We gave them a couple of Joyce Meyer books in Arabic so we will see if they take to them.

We pray for the second generation of nationals to catch the vision of being the ones to lead their own people to Him.”

She has written about the challenges of settling in and missing family and friends, but how watching people grow in God is exciting and rewarding.

“Church is great! We have our services on a Saturday night and at the moment there are around 50-60 of us. Wednesday and most Friday nights are our times for outreach where we sit in McDonalds or Starbucks and just chat to people and then we have our Uni Outreach on Thursday’s. We run an English Club at the uni, it just started last week and one person came. Small beginnings but it is the start of something great. This Sunday, we had our church beach day. There was over 20 of us and around 12 of those people were unsaved! It was a great turn out and an awesome day.

Lifegroups are at the heart of Jesus Lifehouse, and are run each week. My first lifegroup I went to there was a salvation! It was great to see God working! She had been coming to lifegroup for awhile but decided she needed to give her all to God. So we prayed the salvation prayer in the middle of the uni. She is from mainland china and is in Hong Kong studying. Each week we see her grow, her understanding is amazing!”

“Each month we visit Mariinka orphanage in the Donetsk area. A small group from our church (Spasitel) visit every month. This brings joy to the kids we see. There are about 300 kids in this state run orphanage but we always visit the same class of 25 kids. We take small gifts to them and sometimes play football with them. We are privileged to be able to be a part of their lives. The kids know us by name and expect us every month. We are able to pray with them and share God’s love with them. They ask us why we are here and we have been able to share our faith and pray with them.”

Here’s some news of a life being changed, from one of our workers in the North Asia region:

An Australian pastor and I conducted a leadership seminar for urban pastors and workers in a large city. On the last night we had a Q&A time. We were told that a number of the leaders had invited unsaved friends. I gave an altar call at the end of the Q&A and 6 people responded.
As I was leading them in prayer, one of the ladies who came forward raised her hand and asked if she could ask a question. She asked “If I become a Christian, will my family be cursed and bad things happen to them?”. I said “No, they will be blessed. However, that doesn’t mean all your family will be happy about your decision”. She then asked “If I become a Christian can I still burn hell money for my ancestors? My mother was visited by her dead grandfather recently and he asked her to burn hell money to help him. After she burned the hell money she was not bothered by her grandfather again.”
I explained that the Bible teaches us to honour our parents and our ancestors, but there were other ways that she could show respect and honour to her ancestors than by burning hell money. She seemed satisfied with the answers and then made a sincere commitment to Christ.
We concluded by laying hands on the new converts as well as all the leaders. It was a powerful time and probably the most unusual altar call I have given!

We are now live at acc-int.org You can find out more information, get in touch with us or sign up now to be part of this significant campaign!

Each day more than 16,000 children die of hunger related causes, and many more die from lack of clean drinking water. That’s more than 6 million lives lost each year.
But we have the power to change that through ACC International’s One Day to Change the World campaign.

The One Day to Change the World campaign will run between the months of October to December 2010.
The goal of the One Day to Change the World campaign is to inspire individuals to give the equivalent of one day’s wage, allowance or other income to help hurting, hungry, and needy people throughout the world.
This can be done as a local church, a business or as an individual.

Your involvement with ACC International is an effective and efficient response to see the Gospel spread through meeting both the spiritual and physical needs of hunger, malnutrition, lack of clean drinking water and more. With a strong network of field workers and partnerships, ACC International is able to deliver the Gospel message to over 32 nations of the world and be a able to respond rapidly to disasters and hunger-related crises, resulting in multitudes of suffering having their needs and experience the love of Jesus in action.

News from a couple who are in the Sub Continent Arc as Associate Missionaries, after a recent trip:

Each year Vacation Bible school is run by the local AOG churches of the State over one week. This is a major outreach to non-Christian children from the three major religions of the country. Our assembly hosted 200 children. What an opportunity for seed planting! The children go home and tell their parents about the games, the food and, the lessons. Most of the parents have never met a Christian. This year, VBS in our assembly was featured in a local newspaper.

Erik and Mariaana Klar are field workers in Thailand. Along with their team, The River Team they continue to change lives.

Holy Spirit move at Huei Hia Men’s Meeting
Huei Hia village has truly become a hub for prayer for the surrounding mountain communities. Since the first visit to this community by the River Team in 2003, this village has continued to slowly grow in the Lord. Tribal communities are known for invoking evil spirits through witch doctors for their well-being. Huei Hia now has at least 10-12 families who worship Jesus regularly on a Sunday, with many being healed of sicknesses.

The ‘Starbucks in the mountains’ still continues to attract people from other communities as far as 25km away who come to hear the Good news over a cuppa. This has created a fantastic opportunity to have the first men’s meeting which was recently attended by over 40 people. Men came from surrounding communities to be encouraged and hear the Gospel which was shared by pastors from the River Team. Huei Hia for the first time saw a move of the Holy Spirit, with more than 10 men filled with the Holy Spirit that night. Praise God!

A recent story from two of our Field Workers in the Pen Asia region:

In much of (a closed country in Pen Asia*) most people do not have access to any type of latrine. In one village that we are working in, only 20% of the people have access to a toilet with the majority defecating in the open where it can readily pollute their water/food etc and be a leading cause of disease.

The village school of about 150 children had only 3 pour flush latrines which had long before been blocked and disused. These toilets had become storage sheds with children jumping the fence to relieve themselves in the forest.

As part of our latrine construction training event for our team members we were able to work with this community to provide adequate latrines for the school (including refurbishing the existing latrines) while also providing a number of different types of model latrines that the community themselves would be able to replicate with little cost.

In working with the village headmen, we were able to help them see the importance of not only seeing the school with effective sanitation, but also providing working models in the school and throughout the village that the villagers could afford and aspire to.

We look forward to working more closely with this village in the year to come and hopefully will be able to continue building relationship with them and working towards seeing a healthier/cleaner village in the future.
