Reaching the Children in Baseco, Philippines

March 5, 2009 by News

Here’s a story from a Short-Term Field Worker in the Philippines, Sarah Harrison:

Late last year I started a Kids Church in Baseco. The field workers I live with and serve under, Mark & Christine, encouraged me to start a new outreach in an area of Baseco where they didn’t have any current activities. We chose Aplaya, right on the beach, all the houses are built on sand, the area is almost constantly flooded, and there is garbage everywhere.

In our first service of Aplaya Kids we had 60 kids and 20 adults! This past week we had around 120 precious kids come, plus around 10 curious adults. What a great privilege it is for us to be able to share with them the fantastic news of Jesus!

Each Thursday we walk around Aplaya visiting local families. We give them colouring in sheets that act as invitations, as well as the weekly memory verse. It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to meet the parents, and encourage them to allow their children to come to our service. We
encourage the kids to memorise the verse, and we have prizes for the best colouring in!

It is so much fun, and such a great joy to be in these childrens lives.

Just a few months ago I personally met Sarah Harrison… a great woman of God following the calling God has for her.

May more and more young men and women seek God’s calling… where God works, amazing things happen!

    Bless you Sarah and ACC
